everyone has a muse

When I watch a movie I really liked. I always want to write a song about how I viewed the main plot or charactures. kinda silly when you think of it. but, I was wondering what makes other people write. I also like to write after I see people argue. I implant what I think the arguement is about. so, list what it takes for you to bust out a song.

looks like you and Neil Diamond have something in common!
actually, your post just gave me some ideas for songs, thanks!
in the past i would many times model a song idea around other songs that i liked... maybe i would try to write a song about a certain subject or situation or from a particular point of view. of course the easiest way to write is to get dumped! getting dumped makes a great muse and the anger and self-pity can make for endless song material.
perhaps that is why some of the best songwriters seem to perpetually ruin their lives and hurt the ones they love: good songwriting material?

I usually drink a fifth of whiskey, do some acid, and write whatever I start thinking.

Most of my music is about snack foods and mythological creatures. That is, until I fall asleep on the paper.

In all reality, I usually try to narrate a particular experience I had. (like what happened a certain night, etc.) with as many metaphors possible.
