So my wife makes me watch American Idol and yes, sometimes I even like it :-D At times there are some very fresh takes on old songs. It's funny because each year they audition 100,000 people and then have an elimination starting with 36 then down to 12. Even at the point of the final 36, it's fairly easy to pick out who the final 2 or 3 are going to be. This year kind of threw me though. We thought for sure Alexis Grace was going to the final 3 but she got voted off early. She had some bad song choices but the link above shows what she's capable of.
Our picks for the final two are Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta.
Allison Iraheta - Papa Was a Rolling Stone - Motown week. One of my favorite songs by the Temptations anyway...this little 16 year old girl just totally belts it out.
Adam Lambert - Satisfaction - Difficult to watch cause we think he's probably gay or just completely narcissistic...but the guy can hit some crazy notes. Would've made a great 80's hair band / hard rock lead singer.
Adam Lambert - Ring of Fire - This is the version he did for country week...lol.
Allison Iraheta - Give In To Me
Allison Iraheta - Blame it on your Heart
Adam Lambert - Tracks of my Tears - Motown week.
Linda also likes Kris Allen. In case you didn't watch AI last year, check out David Cook - Billie Jean (the Chris Cornell version)

wow scott, i can't believe we were all here to witness your "coming out" har har.
American Idol... I must say i watched every second of the first season and still think Kelly Clarkson is one of the best singers ever but i just got really tired of the format and the constant "right after this message" stuff just makes me angry... plus I can't let Amy start watching it cause she would... 2 days a week!?!? seriously?
I do occasionally like to watch the beginnings when all the weirdos try-out.. that's good fun but i lose interest as soon as they start whittling them down... too many good singers singing songs i don't care about in a format that angers me ;-)
So is it just me or does Allison Iraheta look like Kelly Clarkson and Pink had a baby who grew up to be a singer? =)
We never watch the results show because it's usually on at the same time as Lost and because, as you mentioned, the format is so irritating.
You said "songs I don't care about". You don't like Motown? The Temptations were kewl! They've been doing slightly better with the theme weeks. I must say though that EVERYONE on Rock Star: INXS and Rock Star: Supernova was better than anyone on AI. Not sure why that show didn't make it...oh yeah, probably lack of interest in the washed up bands that the contestants were trying out for.
I liked "Lets get it on" the best.I wish it was the utfo version.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J36EoOIvah8 check it out!!! its to funning.
HA! LOL! Thanks Nate, for taking me back to my freshman year rap phase... :-D
I liked all those old songs including motown but they are all so played out... I can barely even listen to Beatles anymore and I almost worship them... maybe once a year if I get in the mood. I'm not saying that I don't like those songs, I just don't want to hear them anymore for a very long time.
Now if the AI crowd was forced to write their own songs and actually play an instument, I might watch a season of that.
But I totally understand WHY people watch AI, as it is very addictive.
hey scott (or any other fans) how do you like the 4-judge format on AI this year?
