Didn't watch it...the last year I watched it was 1989 when Jethro Tull (it's the name of the band, not a guy ;-) beat Metallica for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance. "Inconceivable!"
I did take a peak at Grammy.com to see who won.
Random thoughts:
1) "Rock" has deteriorated to the point of a) John Mayer is in the category and b) he won.
2) Best Pop Collaboration - I love Robert Plant and Alison Krauss / but I DO NOT love Robert Plant & Alison Krauss.
3) Best Instrumental Composition - Has anyone other than John Williams ever won this category?
4) Best Short Form Music Video - Weezer has totally stolen Fort Wayne Foundry's logo! Lawsuit!!
5) Best Short Form Music Video - Why wasn't this nominated??
Preggo MIA's just about the only cool thing I noticed.
well i only saw the last hour or so and i haven't watched it in years so maybe this isn't actual news to any of the informed people, but... it sure seemed lame overall.
good variety in performers, but no stand out performances that i saw. the only reason i even watched the last half of it was because i saw the very-pregnant MIA chick in that veird fishnet ladybug(?) outfit and just couldn't look away after that... it was just THAT w e i r d.
the radiohead song wasn't that good either although i did like the syncopated drums in the marching band.
even sir paul (who i liked very much in his superbowl halftime awhile back) seemed to blow it with the "she was just 17" song.
high points: lil wayne didn't 'play' guitar
Ha! I remember when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica in the heavy metal category. And thinking (continuing your Princess Bride theme) "you keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means"
I didn't watch this years cause I knew Robert Plant and Alison Krauss would clean up. I don't know if it is a good album or not but you can tell a Grammy darling a mile away (cough Coldplay cough).
I can't get over that prego chick and her pelvic thrust...that was SOOO funny! And a bit disturbing. Did someone tell her that she looked phat in that outfit? or just fat?
YIKES!
I just enjoyed each time the rappers started (which was every other performer), my father-in-law would sigh ('cause he hated it)... :-)
hey , when was this!!!! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO PLAYS MUSIC ANYMORE.
